In 2013/14 TownCentred worked intensively with the Gloucester Road Traders Group to secure £250,000 of funding for the street via a successful BID feasibility, development and campaign with successful ballot secured in March 2013. The trader group had secured £10,000 Town Team funding and we assisted them securing the further funding necessary to convert into a BID by approaching the local neighbourhood partnership and other sources.
The BID was underpinned by a lengthy two stage consultation process which aimed to assuage concerns of some traders that the BID was not needed or desired.
The consultation resulted in a clear set of priorities for the BID around four objectives:
• MARKETING, EVENTS AND PROMOTION
• CLEAN, GREEN, ACCESSIBLE AND ATTRACTIVE
• STRONG INDEPENDENTS VOICE AND INFLUENCE
• LOWER BUSINESS COSTS
